Stargate
Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin developed the concept of this military science fiction franchise which proved to be a huge success all over the world. Stargate was the name given to the first movie of this franchise. This movie released in 1994 on October 28 and grossed nearly $200 million all around the world. This movie was declared to be a super hit. A sequel to the same movie was created in the form of a television series three years later and was called Stargate-SG1. The series proved to be a success too.
Riding on the success of the movie and the series, the franchise of Stargate branched out into various forms of media like video games, books and comic strips. Stargate: The Ark of Truth, Stargate Continuum, Stargate Infinity, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe were all spinoffs of the movie and the series.
